HotPot – Product Design

In my product design class in the second semester, we were asked to create a wireless tool. We had to team up, find a scope of application and then work on individual projects. We decided on kitchen tools.

Initially, my idea was to create a wireless boiler. Therefore I started with different designs and concept ideas. I quickly realized that the product isn’t exactly necessary or useful, so I developed my idea into creating a wireless camping stove.

Once I specified my idea, I build a paper prototype, that I used to create a stop motion film.

I then started with building the final prototype. I used an acrylic glass tube and polycellular modeling material based on polyurethane that I spray painted with metallic car coating. I also applied a foil with the necessary symbols, that I had used an HP-plotter for.

To finish it off I created a quick animation with Keynote to showcase the functions and operation of the HotPot.
